The Buran Ghati Pass trek covers about 40 kilometers in total, with trekking sessions lasting 6-7 hours each day. There’s a rest day to enjoy Chandranahan Lake. The route includes meadows, forests, lakes, and a tough pass. This trek is best suited for experienced trekkers with good physical fitness.

DAY 01: Shimla to Jaglik Village

You’ll take a long drive from Shimla to Janglik village, which is where the trek begins. It will take about 8 to 9 hours to get there. Along the way, you’ll pass through some pretty towns and villages like Narkanda and Rohru. Once you arrive at Janglik village, you’ll stay overnight before starting your trek.

DAY 02: Janglik to Daraya Thach

Start the trek with a gentle climb through thick oak and rhododendron forests. As you go along, you’ll come into large meadows with lots of colorful alpine flowers. After a few hours of walking, you’ll reach Dayara Thach. You’ll set up camp there and spend the night.

DAY 03: Dayara to Litham

Next, you’ll trek from Dayara Thach to Litham Thach. The path includes a steep climb through a narrow gorge, followed by a descent to the riverbed. After crossing the river, you’ll reach Litham. Set up camp there for the night.

DAY 04: Litham to Chandernahan Lake day excursion

You’ll continue your trek through lovely meadows, streams, and paths strewn with boulders. At Chandernahan Lake, which sits at an altitude of 4260 meters, you’ll be surrounded by snow-capped peaks. This lake holds special significance for the locals, as it’s considered sacred. In total, there are 5 small lakes in the area. After exploring, you’ll trek back to Litham to camp for the night.

DAY 05: Litham to Nalabansh via Buran Ghati Pass

The path leads to a steep climb up to Buran Ghati Pass, which stands at an altitude of approximately 4,550 meters (14,928 feet) above sea level. From the pass, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the nearby peaks and glaciers. Afterward, you’ll descend to Nalabansh to camp overnight.

DAY 06: Nalabansh to Munirang

Afterwards, the trail leads you on a descent through paths scattered with boulders and across picturesque meadows. You’ll trek to a delightful campsite by the river and spend the night there under the stars.

DAY 07: River Camp to Barua Village to Shimla

Walk through pretty villages and apple orchards until you reach Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. Your trek ends in Barua village, Sangla Valley. Then, take a jeep ride back to Shimla to finish your Buran Ghati trek. Head home with happy memories from Trekatribe!

* Keep an extra day in case of bad weather or landslides, with a charge of ₹2500 if used. Arrange stays in Shimla and book Volvo buses from Delhi/Chandigarh for an extra cost. If you’re a group of 5 or more, plan your own trip on dates that suit you. *

Remember, climbers can only bring up to 15 kg of personal luggage for all climbs.
Make sure to keep your cameras, whether they’re for video or film, safe from the cold by storing them in a warm pouch or the inside pockets of your clothing. Avoid keeping your camera in your backpack at higher elevations.

Aspirins and Paracetamols are good options for headaches as they also help thin the blood, improving circulation and oxygen delivery to the body. However, strong painkillers are not recommended as they can suppress breathing.
